Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja’s mixed doubles journey in the BWF World Tour Super 1000 All England 2025 came to an end in the quarterfinals. They were defeated by the fifth-seeded Chinese pair Feng Yan Zhe and Wei Ya Xin in straight games with scores of 10-21, 14-21 at the Utilita Arena Birmingham, England. Despite falling short of reaching the semifinals, Rehan and Gloria expressed gratitude for their performance in the prestigious badminton tournament.
“In the end, we’re grateful to have finished today’s match, even though the result didn’t meet our expectations,” Rehan said in a post-match statement. Gloria admitted that the game was quite emotional for her. “I was battling with myself. After competing for three consecutive weeks, my condition was undeniably declining,” she stated. “Reaching the quarterfinals was a decent achievement, but we could have done better. As humans, we can’t limit our own abilities. That’s what made it difficult for me to control my emotions,” Gloria added.
The defeat means Rehan and Gloria will have to postpone their hopes of clinching a title in the 2025 season, following their runner-up finishes at the German Open 2025 and Orleans Masters 2025. Nevertheless, they remain determined to bounce back and perform better in their upcoming tournaments. “Next week, we still have a task at the Polish International Challenge. We aim for the best results, of course, we want to win as well. It’s okay to be sad today, but we must return to training and focus on that tournament tomorrow,” Rehan mentioned.
Meanwhile, Indonesia still has three representatives competing in the quarterfinals: women’s singles player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, and two men’s doubles pairs, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani and Leo Rorry Carnando/Bagas Maulana. Gregoria will face a tough challenge against the fourth-seeded Chinese player Han Yue. Sabar/Reza will meet the Taiwanese pair Liu Kuang Heng/Yang Po Han, while Leo/Bagas will take on the eighth-seeded Taiwanese pair Lee Jhe-Huei/Yang Po-Hsuan.
As the All England 2025 tournament progresses, Indonesian shuttlers continue to strive for victory and advance in their respective categories, aiming to make their mark on the international badminton scene.
